Digital Design and Animation IIThe whole year was very fun and interesting. Some parts of the year were of course challenging, but not so challenging, that it was impossible to complete anything. Some things that I can consider to be the main takeaways from this class. Blog post, keep you focused on class related topics throughout the weekend or time out of school during the school year. Unit D (Cameras), is a big Unit that you could take learn from this class, that doesn't just focus on things in 3D Studio Max. Animation is the most unique topic in class. I feel that anyone could work with animation and not get bored with it or start to lose interest. Rewarding ExperiencesThere are some rewarding experiences I had in this class. Creating a Resume, I felt is something that was very useful to learn in this class. Since that after high school, I would be making a Resume for a job. 3D modeling itself is very rewarding in my eyes because not a lot of students in high school get to work with 3D modeling. Learning the Principles of Design is just something that I feel will help me out in the long run. Making a portfolio, allowed me to showcase my work to my teacher, classmates, and anyone else who looked at my portfolio. Used In The FutureWorking with lighting is something that I could use in the future. I do want to continue to work with digital or visual design in college, so now I have a basic understanding of how to use lights. Like I said before, creating a resume is a great real-world relevant topic that will help me in the future. A lot of jobs deal with animation, such as television shows, movies, commercials, video games, etc. If I want to start focusing on any of those areas as a profession then I will have a good understanding of what's going on. IntroWWE 2K19, is a wrestling game based on the "WWE". I have been playing this game series for about five years now. I have had many great moments while playing this game. I feel that this is a very underrated sport game, compared to other sport games. Such as Madden, Fifa, NHL Hockey, NBA 2k, etc. "The core wrestling does a great job of simulating a WWE match" (IGN). I agree, while you're playing this game everything seems as if your experiencing a real WWE match. Gameplay There are so many controls/techniques that you have to sort of "master" in order to get very good at the game. For example, reversal timing is a very critical feature during game play, that can alter how the match goes in your way. If you don't time a reversal correctly then your opponent will keep damaging you will their moves. Reversing "Finishers" is a must, if you let your opponent land at least two finishers on you, that's most of the time a definite three count/pin fall. If you are good at kicking/breaking out of pins then you don't have to worry about tour opponent landing a lot of moves on you. WWE also has a wide variety of matches to choose from. All of the matches that one can see from pay-per views or on television, are in the game. Me and my little brother love doing ladder and royal rumble matches. Good FeaturesThe Creation suite in the game is my favorite thing in the game. There are many things that you can create in the game. Wrestlers, move-sets, entrances, shows, arenas, titles, etc. You can also download community creations. "2K19 also takes some cues from Mortal Kombat X with their 2K Towers mode, which challenges players to complete themed “towers,” consisting of a series of matches under a unifying theme" (IGN). I love doing the tower's because, it's very challenging. My Career mode, in this year's game, didn't really entertain me so that's why I spend so much time doing towers when I play. Summary
SourcesMy TroublesIn class we are given an assignment. We are expected to create a animation in 3D Studio Max, that involves with making a bouncy ball. I am having a very hard time creating this animation. A tutorial was given to us but still I have to make many adjustments to my scene. So that I can use the tools that I learned from the tutorial. So far I have restarted three times on the assignment. Possible FixesSo during the past two school days, I have been looking on to my fellow classmates monitor's. Only for help though, I have not been making any attempts at cheating. So on my recent attempt on animating the ball, I decided to go with my friend, Nick, approach at animating. Instead of relying on the curve editor to make the ball bounce around the room. I'm going to try and use the "Auto Key" button and actually try to place exactly where my ball is going to bounce. IntroductionOver the past week we have been working with lights in 3D Studio Max. It has been a very fun and simple experience for me. The first few assignments, allowed me to have a great first impression on understanding and using lights in 3Ds Max. For example, when we were assigned the "Desk Lamp" assignment/project. Figuring out what types of lights to use, that best led me to accomplishing the goal. Made me really think about what type of lights have the greatest effect in my image. 3 Point LightingThree Point Lighting, was my favorite topic while in the Light unit. I feel that the use of three point lighting will give you the best result on adding light to your scene. When I first thought of three point lighting, I thought that it was going to be very difficult. It turns out, it really wasn't, if you already have an understanding on what the different types of lights do, then three point lighting shouldn't be very difficult for you. As you can see I used the 3-point lighting technique, on my robot design. I used the Omni light so that the room that I placed my robot in, would be lit as well. I also, placed a target spotlight in front of the robot so that the front side of the robot would have a lot of light focused on it. There is also a directional light focused on the bottom half of the robot, because the feet of the robot were very dim before I added the directional. Summary
What Is Apex Legends? Apex Legends, is a free-to-play battle royale game. It is also developed by Respawn Entertainment. Many people try to compare the game to other very popular battle royale games. Such as, Fortnite or PUBG, but Apex Legends is nothing like either of those games. Many people and I myself think that Apex Legends has a sort of "Titanfall" vibe going on with it. Also, unlike other battle royale games, you can only play within a squad. There are no solo or duo matchmaking options. Gameplay "It’s another part hero shooter, featuring eight characters called Legends with unique ability sets built for steadfast teamwork" (IGN). Right before the match starts, you have to choose a legend. There are currently nine legends you can choose from before loading in to the match. If your teammates choose the legend you want, you cannot play with that legend. When the match starts you have to jump out of the drop ship, and land at a location on the map. Then of course, loot, kill, and be the last squad standing. There are many different items you can pick up, some relate to healing, some help you gain your ultimate faster (Ultimate Accelerant). There are also there are some great weapons you can pickup. My favorite is the R-301 (Assault Rifle). Additional Info"(It turns out they’re only mostly dead.) A teammate can grab your banner within 90 seconds of your death and make the trek to the nearest beacon" (IGN). If your in a gunfight and you get downed, then "finished off", you can always have another chance to get back into the action. If your teammates are still alive they can get your respawn beacon, and deliver it to a revive spot. If feel that this aspect in the game, really differentiates Apex Legends from other battle royale games. Another cool aspect in the game, is how the legends have their own unique abilities. Legends have passive, tactical, and ultimate abilities. Lets take "Bangalore" for example, her passive ability is "Double Time". It allows her to gain a speed boost when she is shot at. Her tactical ability is a smoke launcher that shoots out three smoke grenades. Her ultimate, is the "Rolling Thunder", it's sort of like a missile strike. SourcesWhat Is UVW Mapping?UVW mapping is a mathematical technique for coordinate mapping. In computer graphics, it most commonly maps to map, in contrast to UV mapping, which maps to. The UVW mapping is suitable for painting an object's surface based on a solid texture. DifficultiesOf course there are some difficulties that I have ran into with UVW mapping. First, getting images to sort of "align" with each other is kind of difficult. If you don't have the right rotation of an image on a certain face your whole object won't look right. Also making sure that you differentiate your sides. If the image doesn't look correct on the side your object (a box for example), then how can you tell which one it is if you don't assign a standard material to that face. What Was Suprising?One thing that really amazed me was how realistic the box I worked with looked. When I finished creating the UPS box, I was very surprised with how real the box looked. I didn't think the UVW map would add that much detail to it. I can't wait to finish my game asset, I hope it comes out great. Summary
What Will Help Me On Future AssignmentsI feel that many 3D modeling techniques that I have learned in the past months will help me a lot on upcoming assignments. Let's take the Lathe technique for example. I can use this for many uses in design. In my Neighborhood 3D model, I used the Lathe, to make light poles. Also, the Loft modeling technique is very helpful in modeling, think about it. I made a toolbox with tools along with it, while just using the Lathe. Just imagine what else I can make with just that modeling technique. 3D SimulationsLately, I have been working with 3D animations in class. So far, it is the most interesting thing we have worked with this year. There are so many things that I can do with MassFX, such as create an animation about a car crash or maybe just a simple animation on a ball rolling down a hill. All the small things that you can change in your animation, the different types of body types (dynamic, static, and kinematic), different gravity options, setting the amount of time the object stays as kinematic. Are all very cool things that come with creating an animation in 3Ds Max and those aren't even all the possible things that you can do. Boolean OperationsBoolean operations I think will be brought back up in class. Since that first off it is very simple and easy to use. Also maybe we will have to make a city in 3Ds Max, and for example, I can use the Intersection Boolean operation to create alleyways between buildings. The Union operation is probably the most used Boolean operation that people in general use because it is very useful in anything that you'll model. Summary
IntroRed Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure game, developed and published by Rockstar Games. It is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption, and the third game in the Red Dead series. "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive." (IGN). Main StoryThe main story ranges from chapter one to the "Stranger Missions". " As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him." (IGN). I myself think that the game has an amazing storyline filled with great side missions and how you interact with people at any time while your playing. Of course, some people say that the main story is way too long, but I say that it's great that Rockstar made the storyline long even though there is also a multiplayer or "online" mode in the game that has just been released. Gameplay Of course, the game is open world. One of the game-play features that stick out to me and is kind of funny is how you can "hog-tie" a person. Some of the things that I have seen that people do when they hog tie someone. After they have hog tied the person they choose, they will travel to a swamp and dump the person off by crocodiles and then the crocodiles would eat them. That's very messed up but, its funny at the same time. Rockstar today has just put in the beta version of the online mode in the game so I can't really expand on that very much. The combat in the game is very impressive though. There's this special thing that your character (Arthur) has, which is called "Deadeye". When the meter is filled you have a huge advantage in shooting accurately when shooting at a target. Your horse, which you can change at any time (multiple options), is a very critical part in traveling on the map. Speaking of the map, it is very amazing. The towns look highly detailed, the wildlife you can tell they paid close attention to that, and the little camps on the are even a great aspect of the game. Every character in the game seems almost like real people, well the one that has a role in the storyline. Rockstar has definitely taken there time in creating the personalities and obviously visual appearances in the characters of the game. SourcesIntro To The ProjectThe project we were assigned was to create a 3D chess set, in 3Ds Max. We could use any of the techniques we have learned over the past couple of weeks. I myself mainly used the Lathe (creates a 3D object by rotating around an axis) tool to make my chess pieces. And of course, we had to make a 3D chessboard, which was very simple to make, especially if you followed the tutorial provided. The whole project to me about a week to complete. Difficulties I would've finished the project way earlier than when I turned it I, but I was stuck on how to make the Knight chess piece. While working on the Knight, I was following this tutorial that was provided to help us with making the chess piece. I think the problem was that since I was using a different reference image. The model turned out very different from the one in the tutorial. Eventually, I gave up on using the Lathe modifier, and just outlined the image with the line tool and extruded. SourcesSummary
Finished ProductWhat Catches My EyeThe new "Battle Royale" type game mode in Call Of Duty BO4 is something that has never been incorporated into a Call Of Duty game before. Blackout is what the game mode is called. "Call of Duty’s responsive and forgiving gunplay, nimble movement, and creative but practical equipment fit beautifully into the trendy last man standing format."(IGN). Even though Call Of Duty's "Blackout", battle royale mode, hasn't surpassed other battle royale games, such as Fortnite and Player Unknown's Battle Grounds. It still is a very innovative and creative way to get people to return to playing Call Of Duty. New MechanicsThinking back to Black Ops 3, in multiplayer, there were characters that you could choose also known as "specialist". With these specialists bring their special weapons that you eventually earn throughout the match. Treyarch kept this same concept in making the multiplayer. They have kept some specialist and have taken some out, while also adding new specialist into the game. My specific new item in multiplayer is the grappling gun. Some items are only available with some specialist. The "Tempest" is my opinion, is one of the best specialist weapons to use, especially in multiplayer. The Tempest comes with the "Prophet" specialist, the weapon stuns your enemy long enough for either you or your teammate to eliminate them. Gameplay"SMGs and automatic assault rifles seem to be the unsurprising go-to weapons in Black Ops 4, as automatic weapons with a high rate of fire tend to be popular in Call of Duty. Many of the 14 maps feature tighter corridors that give those rapid-fire automatic weapons the edge"(IGN). I rarely see people use sniper rifles in BO4 especially because of these small and crowded map designs."The ultimate Call of Duty multiplayer experience"(Metacritic). BO4 feels very "real" in terms of actually shooting the weapon you're using. "From assault rifles to sniper rifles, the weapons you fire have a sense of weight and kick that we’ve only seen from a handful of other first-person shooters, and every kill in a match feels earned(digitaltrends).
